Ubisoft has announced a revival of the Prince of Persia franchise with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. The game is being developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, the studio behind the beloved platformer Rayman Legends, and harkens back to the series’ origins as a 2D action-adventure game. It’s coming January 18, 2024.
The new game stars Sargon, a young warrior in a group called the Immortals. They’re sent to rescue Prince Ghassan from a cursed Mount Qaf, and then get caught up in a larger plot that threatens the balance of the world. Ubisoft says that the story s inspired by Persian mythology, and will use a Metroidvania structure, allowing you to acquire new time powers to progressively unlock new areas and solve puzzles in Mount Qaf. The soundtrack is being composed by Iranian-born composer Mentrix, along with Gareth Coker.
